* Yes, Noyo. I am experiencing one of the twofold peace spoken here right now- ''The peace He gives.''
Notice that the third temperament of the Spirit-filled man in Gal 5 :22 is PEACE. While verses 19- 21, describe the emotional turbulence of the natural man without the Holy Spirit. He is said to be ''immoral, filthy, and take indecent actions. They have human enemies, and they fight; they become jealous, angry, and ambitious. They seperate into parties and groups; they are envious.'' We know from here that the further man gets from God, the less he knows of PEACE.
The peace Jesus spoke of is twofold like I said. It is Peace WITH God and the Peace OF God. The peace he LEAVES us is peace with God. While the peace he GIVES us is the peace of God.
Peace with God is the result of salvation by faith. Man outside of Jesus Christ knows nothing of peace in relationship with God, because his sin is ever before him and he knows he is accountable before God at the judgement. However, when this individual takes Jesus Christ at his word and invites him into his life as Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ not only comes in as he promised to do, but immediately cleanses all his sin. Rom 5:1 says, ''Therefore being justified by faith, we have PEACE WITH GOD through our Lord Jesus Christ.''
The peace of God, the antidote to worry, is not as automatically possessed by Christians as the peace with God. This peace, enabling one to be untroubled in the face of difficult circumstances, is illustrated by the Lord Jesus who was sound asleep in the lower part of the ship while the twelve disciples were frightened beyond rationality. Just becoming a Christian does not spare us from the difficult circumstances of life. However, the Holy Spirit's presence in our lives can supply us with one of life's greatest treasures: the peace of God, in spite of any circumstances. Yes, the Holy Spirit is strengthening me right now. This situation cannot surmount me. Rather God's Glory will be revealed through me in it IJN.
The Apostle Paul had this in mind when he wrote the words, ''Be careful ( don't worry or be anxious) for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And THE PEACE OF GOD, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus- Phil 4: 6-7.'' The Holy Spirit longs to give such PEACE to every believer. Are you ready to recieve, friends?
